Our cat, Stripes, thinks he's our baby too. He likes to try out all of Kaylin's things and insists on crying to be fed whenever Kaylin cries for a bottle. (It doesn't matter whether or not his bowl is already full of food. I think he wishes I would feed him formula from a bottle too.) For all Stripes' insistence that he is our baby too, he is still a little bit hesitant to get near Kaylin. Kaylin on the other hand absolutely loves Stripes! She smiles and laughs when she sees him and crawls all around trying to catch him. We're lucky that Stripes is an extremely tolerant cat, because the few times Kaylin has gotten close enough to touch Stripes she has grabbed a handful of his fur. Hopefully one day when Kaylin has learned to be gentler, Stripes will love Kaylin as much as she loves him!
